Help the SOUTHALL SIKH Homeless – S.W.A.T.

Did you know there are over 100 Sikh young men from Punjab living on the streets of Southall? We have encountered 2 men over the age of 55 living on the streets.

    Where are they living?

  • In Dustbins
  • Cemeteries
  • Disused Garages
  • Under Bridges

To cope many have turned to class A Drugs, such as Heroin and Crack Cocaine. The reason for this is to cope with the cold, to suppress their hunger and to help them sleep on the streets.

Many are suffering from serious health conditions such as Hyperthermia, Scabies, Gangrene and cannot get immediate medical attention.

What are we doing to help:

  • Providing Drug care.
  • Providing Clean clothing.
  • Providing Sleeping bags.
    Providing Hot food.
  • Providing moral support.
  • Assisting with those who want to return back to Punjab.
  • Putting them in contact with health centers.
  • In the process of commissioning a documentary to be made to highlight the plight of these men.

What are the Local Gurudwaras doing?
Sri Guru Singh Sabah is making sure none of these boys get turned away for Langar and if they are unfit to enter Langar is provided outside for them. Allowing us to appeal to the sangat for any kind of support required and highlighting this issue.

What are the local churches doing?

  • Providing hot meals.
  • Providing church halls for drop in centers for the homeless.
  • Hot showers.
  • Clean clothes
  • Counseling service.

As we know Christianity is a missionary religion which through its teaching aims to convert any individual coming through their doors. To date we can confirm that they have converted 2 Sikh men through their love and compassion. How many more will be converted? Who will offer these boys help next? Mosques?

    How can you help?

  • Contact us if you have any Jackets gloves scarves shoes etc.
  • Let us know if you have contacts that can help in any way ie: Accommodation, Shower facilities, Immigration, Medication, Funds

Any ideas are welcome and if you have the same issue in your own area we are more than willing to help.

The paragraph above,

“As we know Christianity is a missionary religion…Who will offer these boys help next? Mosques?”

is quite a fundamentalist viewpoint? Also, the freedom of choice allows an individual to convert religion as they wish. For this to cause you problem is quite selfish.

If the above statement quoted from your site was not intended to put across this view, I advise you to delete it, and in doing so gaining more, and continual support.

I believe it is a cheap way to try and convince Sikhs to help. The fact that there are any homeless (from any religion) on the street is a reason for society to feel shame and compel them to help. If members of society are not convinced, then yet again, that is their choice, not yours!

Best!

Daljit Singh the statement above is a very hard hitting sentiment, for us just to allow our Sikh brothers and sisters to convert due to the lack of compassion from the Sikh sangat is wrong. What if these young lads turn to mosques for help and are converted to Islam due to not being helped by there own people. Guru Gobind Singh Ji lost his whole family to prevent conversion yet were willing to sit back and allow people to leave because were not showing them enough love and help also in the mental condition some of these people there judgment is impaired.

Thnks for the presentation at HINDU CULTUTAL SOCIETY ,FINCHELY YESTERDAY.

I HAVE CIRCULATED YOUR DETAILS TO VARIOUS ASIAN ORGANSAITION AND YOU MAY GET CALL TO DISCUSS!

KEEP UP THE GOOID WORK IN NAME OF GOD THE AL MIGHTY.
YOU ARE BLESSED

I am a family man with children. I feel deep deeply for the young people who sleep rough. We as a family are ready to help any young person. I recently saw a very young girl with pushchair and a child. She looked so miserable. We are willing to help such unfournate people. Contact me by email.
God bless and keep up the good work.

Your doing a great job helping homeless people.
The whole issue here is a good one but this statmenr is a bit rude towards other people who are willing to help but don’t happen to be Sikhs?

“As we know Christianity is a missionary religion…Who will offer these boys help next? Mosques?”

If mosques are helping homeless people doesn’t make them bad? I found that comment to be quite racist towards a different belief. When your offering charitable deed doesn’t matter what ethnic or religious background that person if from a good deed is from inside and should not judged by your own personal views.
Humanity comes first and then religion, something your not aware off. As for conversation it’s up to any individual person to convert religions at any time in their life just because a Mosque helps doesn’t mean you should feel threatend.
