In today’s world we can see most of the sikh boys and girls are trimming n cutting their hair’s (KES), everyone is looking to Hollywood or Bollywood actor’s and actresses and trying to become or look-alike them, everyone knows the lifestyle of people changing day by day, which is effecting World’s YOUNGEST RELEGION “SIKHISM”.
Where we were some years back and where we are NOW!!!
- What you think by 2020 will sikhi survive?
- Do you think next 10 years would be the toughest for Sikhism as young generation is forgetting their roots, the path shown by our Guru’s and following the culture which is originally not ours??
- Children’s first teacher is their parents, does any parent telling them about their own culture or the path show by our Guru’s?????
I am neither a poet nor any writer these things came into my mind n I just made a blog just to know what world think about this….

One argument I particularly remember is that Sikhi is quality over quantity.
1. Sikhi will survive and if you look at the history of it, you will be assured of it.
2. Time has always tested the reserve of the Sikhs. Don’t you think it was tough when Sikhs were persecuted? When there was a price put on our heads?
3. I can only hope that we, as adults, continue to teach everyone of Sikhi.
Well, it pains to see that current generation of sikhs specially males want to become chikna like a girl or bollywood ‘heroes’. Actually most of such males have developed an inferirity complex too since they are not aware about the religion.
I have seen some kids as young as 5 years whose hair have been allowed to be cut by thier fathers who still has a sikh saroop.
Actually it falls on parents to tell the kids about glory, sacrifices etc. of thier religion so that they can take pride to belong to such a religion but are parents doing thier duty?
Then there is a well coordinated compaign by anti-sikh forces to denigrate sikhs by making fun of them by telling and spreading racial jokes. This also affects the confidence of young sikhs.
However, there is a silver lining to all this.There are still a large number of sikhs who feel proud to belong to this religion and they will go to all lengths to follow the teachings of skih gurus as well as to retain thier sikh identity. I am grategul to god and our gurus that I am one of them!
In the end (god knows when) all nakli sikhs will go out of religion – that will be good for sikh religion. (Lions and Sheep will get separated).

Even thought it is a bad thing we aren’t teaching our kids about sikhism and all that, just remember what Guru Gobind Singh Ji said
“Aageya Bhayi Akaal Ki
Tabey Chlayeo Panth”
It means god wanted this religion to be made so nobody and nothing can destroy sikhism.Plus if everybody became sikh(real sikhs)then everybody would be mukt,maybe that isn’t god’s hukam yet.

Well Guys today I saw this blog abt Sikhi and if I say more precisely I found blog is about F U T U R E of Sikhi.
I feel there are lots of Fake Sikhis in our Delhi, Punjab, Uk London, Canada .. I mean every where in the world. Fake Sikhs means A person who has long hairs on head wearing Turbun But Keeping his beard trimmed, NO AMRIT-PAAN I mean no Rehat Mriyada at all.
If we count this kind of sikhs are about 90 Percent of total Sikh population. How can they teach there kids or next generation about sikhi?
There is a question in my dirty mind I like to share with you. We all know There were few purposes in forming our religion.
If I am not wrong they were.
1. No Jaat Paat
2. No dehdhari Guru etc…
The list would be so long… I like to ask about

2. No dehdhari Guru (Every one know how many sikhs are follwoing Baba Gurmeet Ram Rahim as there guru and ready to kill other sikhs who are against him)

2. HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO FININSH JAAT-PAAT FROM OUR COMMUNITY?

Basically Khalsa panth is only a matter of TURBAN…. A person who wears turban, no matter if he trim his beared, (and in case of ladies the do also plucking and waxing), not following A N Y rehat mariyada is a Sikh.

First of all i would like to say Mr. Harinder Singh comments are very right on current situations.
Firstly Parents should educated their children about our holly religion and a gap is also generated due to shiromani committee who make more interest in politics than our sikhism…This is very serious because our community is divided into different parties.So i would like to request all the major committee that they come in front and educate our youth towards sikhism.Run some educational institute,Colleges or even university who promote our religions and some other programme like kirtan darbar,kavisri,kathavachak,Dhadi jatthe etc all over the region.

i would like to state that i, personally will never cut my hair and that in year 9 here in australia it is definitely hard but my religion is what is really important to me. i would like to know what guruduara you are in and if you too are in Australia. Peer pressure is strong but i want to prove that i can be stronger.
Every time i see a gursikh i pray that at least they will not cut their hair AND keep the religion.

U see when in the days of Meer Manu and the like, the sikhs survived, when he claimed that sikhs have been abolished from punjab and other places, but even then sikhi survived in those difficult times, today we have got numbers, even if 10-15% of them are good sikhs that is more than enough for sikhi in 2020. We want quality and not quantity and the time will come when these people who are not following any rehat maryada will automatically come to the fold of sikhi, when they get beating at the other end.
If you look at history, there have been lot of tests of our religion in olden times and recent events, even then sikhs survived in those difficult times.
Now a days, we can always raise our voice on national and international media, wherever the problem we are facing in different countries, like France Turban issue, which will be solved with the time. Its a matter of days, we have won every battle with GRACE of WAHEGURU, but ultimately win the war also. HAVE FAITH IN HIM. ITS HIS FAUJ.
now a days we need to promote sikhism in whole world. you can compare in India sikh people are getting converted but this think is only happening in PUNJAB OR NORTH INDIA REGION and not in other STATES of INDIA also in WHOLE WORLD SIKHISM is saved NOW A NEED TO THINK ABOUT THE FURTHURE OF PUNJAB WERE PUBLIC NEEDS ONLY AND ONLY DRUGS NOT THE LASSIIIIIIIIIIIII, OR DESI GHEE. I am a Sikh girl and I am proud of it. I love to live the life as a true Gursikh.I am very happy to know that we, as a Sikh society are concerned about the future of our religion. Being a young adult, when I see Sikh guys and gals nowadays, all I think is, what will happen to our religion in the future? Will it be there for us in the future? I first came to United States when I was only nine years old. However, I just couldn’t forget my true identity as a Sikh. Now I am 21 years old and no one can imagine that I have been living in United States for over 10 years. When I went back for a visit to India after 10 years, all my relatives said that I didn’t change a bit, meaning it doesn’t look like I have come from Unites States, the western world.
In conclusion, I hope there are more programs or organizations (maybe in schools or Gurduwaras) which helps the youth to find their true identities as Sikhs and to try their hardest to save our Sikh religion which the Guru’s have sacrificed for centuries back.

Talking big things and giving examples of our ancients is quite easy because anybody is to say or to write simply. But nobody is taking serious steps to handle or tackle this situation of deterioration of Sikhism. Everybody, particularly our leaders are quite selfish and what to talk about our preachers whose preaches are entirely different from their deeds.
I am strong believer of the fact that if at all parents will take care of their kids by telling them the stories of their gurus or their Sidakwan Sikhs and tell them how this Sikhi Saroop we have got, by no means any kid will cut their hairs or do any damn thing to harm their sikhi saroop.
But now the question arises that if the parents also don’t know all those stories or their history then what to be done. For this kind of problems no steps is being taken. Only by telling that Guru Wale Bano by our preachers, the duties are not over.
You see if you make survey that how many sikhs know 10 Gurus names, 5 Pyares Name and other main principles of Sikhism, you will find that no. can be counted on tips. Even Amritdahri Sikhs are just going to Gurdwaras and bow their heads and come back, thinking that their duties are over and they are Khalsas.
So these kind of problems are many, and how many should i write……
Now i’ll write the possible remedies and solutions. As far as my mind’s reach is concerned i think any body’s very first school is his/her own home and their first teachers are their parents.
When i was quite young, my father use to remain on tours for business purposes and mother use to remain busy in house works. so my BUA Ji and Dadi Ji use to tell me the stories and sakhis related to sikhism and every night i ask them to tell those stories again and again. Slowly almost everything was registered in mind and as a result of all their efforts today i’m quite strong and not even can listen anything against sikhism. And if at all there is any debate, i can strongly handle the situation by telling the opposition the solid facts and can make them silent.
HOW? My elders have made me strong that i can successfully handle anybody’s questions.
So the first and most powerful solution is in front of you.
I know now the question will arise that in today’s fast life neither parents nor kids have these kind of interests or anybody would like to give time towards this. So the need is how to create interests?
The kids are quite keen to see cartoons. So give them animated Movies related to Sikhism and you also see those movies and then discuss the history with them. I challenge that major change will come and worries of 2020 will definitely will slightly come down. and if my thought will be implemented in large and solid scale in every family, a drastic change will come.
I’ve 2 kids, a daughter and a son of 12 and 11 years of age. I applied this technique on them and now the situation is that they know their history and other things also. Daily they recite Japuji Sahib and Rehraas Sahib without any break. i’m proud of them.
So this technique is my self experimented and not read or listened from anybody.
A well known Story’s Moral everybody knows that ‘Where there is a will, there is a way’. So i request everybody to stop preaching or give excuses. Just strengthen your family towards Sikhism and sikh values and when it will be done then pick up others one by one.
I hope that i’ve not hurt anybody’s feelings and if at all i’ve made some mistakes, please forgive me.

here (in delhi)sikhs are discriminated very much by sardar jokes and slangs like bara baj gaye many sikhs are cutting there hair and sikh girls date hindu boys
i sometimes feel bad that Sikh boys are seen as drunkards(especially by baniyas). i have faith in sikhi and will alwayz remain a sikh.
i know so manmy people whose fathers are sikh but they have cut their hair to look good saying that these are old useless traditions.
i feel sorry for them . sikh boys who are keeping there hair have started cutting beard.
a solution has to be found out .
we dont do anything and just keep saying that sikhi will stay forever..What do u expect from a person doesn’t know anything about sikhi but is forced to remain a sikh by family pressure .we cant blame a person for cutting his hair.we should spread and inform people about real sikhism.
instead of these forums here ,the elders have to do some actions in their societies.its not just about Sikhism but youth of all religions is getting diverted.
gautam bhuddha had once said that to be pure one has to survive both torture and temptations.

We have been observing that Pillion riders on the 2wheelers on the raods of INDIA have been spared not to wear HELMETS (Specially females, Due to the fact thet SIKH RELIGION DOES NOT PERMIT wearing CAPs/HATS/HELMETS Etc….) But i have been observing that SIKH GENTLEMEN are seen riding 2wheelers wearing CAPS/PATKAS(Look like CAPS) Etc…..
IT IS OUR SGPC/DSGPC Etc… Like oragnisations to take up the matter with the administration that if SIKH Women are exempted from wearing HELMETS on 2Wheelers on the basis of RELIGION. Then SIKH Gentlemen are also not suppose to wear anything other than TURBAN. If found should be booked under the law of the LAND.
ALL SIKHS WHO BELEIVE THAT THIS IS VERY BASIC OBJECTION TO BE RAISED WITHIN OUR SIKH COMMUNITY, SHOULD RAISE THEIR VOICE IN SUPPORT OF THIS PARTICULAR POINT.

Its really nice to read the above comments by my fellow sikh bro n sis.We have just pointed at the kesh cut and drugs which make a fake sikh.But I would like to say that all those who keep kesh and dont drink are also fake sikh if they dont follow all the rehayats given.As guru Gobind Singh finely quoted that ‘Sikh nahi pyara menu rehayat piyari hai’.
We are not concerned with ppl who are not obeying sikhism as I feel if someone follows these rules is the only SIKH,be it only 1 left in the whole world.Others should not set up a bad example by calling themselves a sikh.No one is a sikh by birth but by choice.So ppl who are born in a sikh family should not boast themselves to be called a sikh if they dont follow rehayats.I have seen many foreigners who have converted themselves to sikhism and follow it.They are Sikhs and should be appreciated.
Sikh means a student who follows its guru.

in punjab most of peoples cutting there hair to look good but they do not know that but they do not thing that they are forgeeting there virsa. in other state like haryana. up. rajasthan. they do not cut hair and have getting virsa to theere childs . in my collage only few are having hair .

i’m a 20 yr old sikh studying in delhi….and after seeing the blind race of fashion the sikh delhites r running after .they r not remembering the principles and duties bestowed upon them by their gurus.the parents should tell their children wat their gurus had done to save sikhism…..and we r not realizing their deeds .so, just read ur history sikhs and u will always remain a complete sikh….but sikhism will always live in chardi kala…….

Here everybody is writing there views for the sikhism, that it be here upto 2020 or not. But No body says or writing that upto how much extent we r here as a sikh and obeying the orders and the vichaars of the Gurbani. Any body can give me a answer honestly for this that r they now really a sikh. U all r talkinhg about the future but nobody talks about the presence.
In todays word no sikh sardar boy likes a sikh sardar girl wearing a simple dress (Salwar Siut), And always commit comments on that bhehanji type girl. Girl also in the same boat, girls of sikh sardar family dislike the sikh boy who has wearing the turbun having long beard. Every body knoews about this that i wrote now. But no body have a reply for this. Our own believe on sikhism is fake, then why we talk about the future. Make there own mind about the sikhism respect the orders and vichaars of the Gurbani.
The question arrised that will be there sikh in the 2020. If we have believe on the sikhism, if we r obeying the orders of our 11 GURU’S then our coming generation will also do the same. So there is no any question about the sikhi that it be in future or not. If we r having it and tell about it to our young brother sisters and son daughters then sikhism will be in the future forever.
